The relatives of young people missing after a devastating blaze at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an excruciating wait for confirmed information and requesting clues about their children publicly.

The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Confirmed video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another 119. Authorities noted on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with efforts continuing to identify the other six.

In the meantime, loved ones have been taking to online platforms to plead for clues about their friends who were in attendance that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. It's horrific," she stated.

She explained that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through hell."
