Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
