Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
